Sumatra is a large island in Indonesia. This particular coffee is grown on the lofty volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser at altitudes of 2,500 to 5,000 feet. We roast this coffee dark, which results in a bold but smooth cup of coffee.
Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, and Sumatra is the second largest of these. The islands were formed by volcanic activity, and their mineral-rich soil—fortified with volcanic ash and diverse plant life—have helped to make Indonesia's coffees among the most famous and celebrated around the world.
Indonesia's coffees have long been prized for a particular cup profile that primarily results from the country’s most popular processing method, giling basah. Or, wet hulled in the Bahasa language.
Note: Please allow an extra day or 2 for orders to be shipped to insure quality fresh coffee. We roast regularly and then ship immediately.
We roast about 11 pounds at a time. Each coffee has a “sweet spot” and needs to be roasted to just that level. Some beans need to be roasted lightly to keep their sweet, delicate flavor. Other beans are better suited for a medium or dark roast. And finally, the fresh, premium-quality coffee arrives in your home, is brewed to perfection, and is savored by you, your family, and friends.
Our family roastery is committed to providing you with coffee that is at the very peak of freshness. We carefully select beans from a variety of countries and roast them to perfection in small batches. Our goal is to have quality coffee to you as soon as possible after roasting. From the mountains of Colombia to the island of Papua New Guinea, you can travel the world through our coffee. Enjoy with us one of the many delights of God’s wonderful creation!
